Drs. Richard Damiano and S. Lance Forstot founded Corneal Consultants of Colorado in 1982.
Initially, the doctors focused their practice on what was then the emerging field of refractive surgery used to correct astigmatism following corneal transplantation. In the 32 years since, the art and science of ophthalmologic treatment has evolved, and so to has the practice. Today, Corneal Consultants of Colorado offer the latest in cutting-edge treatments for a wide range of eye diseases and conditions.
The Doctors at Corneal Consultants of Colorado are regarded as leaders in the field of ophthalmologic surgery. They are often among the first to adopt new treatments and procedures and regularly act as consultants to other physicians to solve problem cases.
Dr. Damiano is a board certified ophthalmologist and founding partner of Corneal Consultants of Colorado.
Dr. Damiano graduated from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and his residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Damiano served as an ophthalmologist in the U.S. Army for two years before completing a fellowship in corneal and external disease at The Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Damiano has had a distinguished career. He was the first physician in the state of Colorado to perform radial keratotomy and is considered one of the pioneers of the surgery in the United States. Dr. Damiano also developed the only surgical technique to correct hyperopia, or far-sightedness, that can occur following radial keratotomy. This surgical procedure has been in use for over fifteen years.
Since 1975, Dr. Damiano has served as a clinical instructor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He has also published and presented numerous papers.
Dr. S. Lance Forstot is a board certified ophthalmologist and founding partner of Corneal Consultants of Colorado.
Dr. Forstot graduated from Princeton University and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After interning at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Dr. Forstot spent two years serving with the U.S. Public Health Service. He completed his residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in corneal and external diseases at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Forstot has been recognized as one of the nation's top doctors of ophthalmology.
He is a recipient of an Honor Award and Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has served on numerous panels and boards throughout his career, including his role as president of the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists.

Dr. Repine is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a partner of Corneal Consultants of Colorado, P.C.
Dr. Repine graduated from the University of Colorado Cum Laude and then the University of Colorado School of Medicine With Honors. In addition, she received numerous academic and research awards including the distinction of being elected as a junior student into Alpha Omega Alpha, Medicine’s National Honor Society for exceptional academic accomplishments.Dr. Repine next completed an internship in Internal Medicine and an Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Colorado during which she was actively involved in research, publishing numerous papers and presenting her research at International Scientific Meetings. After completing her training in 1991, Dr. Repine started her own ophthalmology practice known as “Repine Vision and Laser.” She has received additional recognition including being named 5280 Magazine’s “Top Laser Surgeon in Denver”, one of “Laser Vision’s Top 100 Surgeons in the Nation,” and the recipient of the VSP People First Award. Dr. Repine formally merged her practice with Corneal Consultants in 2013.
Dr. Repine grew up in Colorado, enjoys skiing, golfing and cycling, is the mother of three children, and is dedicated to practicing Ophthalmology “with care and a personal touch.” She says, “We strive to get to know our patients and their families by providing excellent, comprehensive medical and surgical eye care.”
Dr. Robert I. Fish is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist joining Corneal Consultants of Colorado in July 2014.
Dr. Fish is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana where he attended school for his undergraduate and medical school training. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Indiana University in Bloomington. After spending time researching and publishing in the field of Molecular Biology for Indiana University, he decided to pursue a medical degree. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2005, graduating with honors and was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He then completed a transitional Internship at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee before moving on to residency in Ophthalmology. He finished his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin where he served as the Chief Resident. During this time he was actively involved in research and presented ophthalmologic research at several national meetings and published several papers as well.
Dr. Fish recently completed a Cornea, Refractive and External Disease Fellowship at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute in Aurora, Colorado. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Fish returned to Wisconsin to serve as Medical Director of the Verre Eye Clinic and maintained a part time assistant instructor role at the Eye Institute consisting of lectures and surgical training of the residents for 4 years.
Dr. Fish is excited to return to the beautiful state of Colorado and provide a high level of eye care to the community. His areas of expertise include cornea, cataract, refractive surgery and glaucoma.
Dr. Mirza is a board-certified ophthalmologist who joined Corneal Consultants in November of 2015. She is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, where she attended Case Western Reserve University, earning a bachelors degree in Biology and Sociology. She then attended medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, earning a combined M.D and M.P.H. degree. She completed an internal medicine internship at Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. before starting her Ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where she served as a chief resident. Dr. Mirza then worked as a comprehensive ophthalmologist in Westchester County, New York for two years before completing a Cornea and External Disease fellowship at Corneal Associates of New Jersey.
Dr. Mirza has an interest in global health and in 2014, she traveled to Guayaquil, Ecuador with SEE International to perform cataract surgery for underserved populations. She has enjoyed her time in Colorado so far, and is excited to provide quality comprehensive eye care as well as cataract and corneal surgery.

Dr. Gustave grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois. He graduated with a B.A. in Zoology and a minor in Spanish from Miami University in Ohio in 2002. He then relocated to Denver and received his Medical Degree and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Colorado, completing both degrees in 2009. Hedid his internship at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, and then finished his ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado – Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute in 2013.
He finished his fellowship training in Cornea, Cataract, Externa l Disease and Refractive Surgery at Cornell University and New York Presbyterian Hospital in 2014. He is Board Certified and is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. To view Dr. Gustave's CV, please click here.
Dr. Gustave and his wife moved to Colorado in 2002. His wife is an artist and art historian, and they greatly enjoy the growing art and culinary scenes in Boulder and Denver. They also have a passion for the mountains an enjoy skiing, rock climbing, camping and hiking with their dog, Penny.
